Jackson Hole Town Square Shootout

The Wild West comes to life with cowboys in Jackson, Wyoming, when men rein act the days of gun fights in the lawless end of the nineteenth century.

  • Takes place on the Town Square Monday to Saturday at 6 pm every night.
  • Watch actors replicate the old west law system.
  • The event is FREE to all spectators.

Overview: There are probably few people that do not enjoy reenactments of history, and the Wild West is probably one of the most popular next to Roman legions.  Wild West enthusiasts and tourists can partake in a real shootout with cowboys firing their pistols for a rip-roaring time in the town square.

When: From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the town hosts the re-enactment of the frontier justice that Jackson is so infamous for. Come join us Monday to Saturday at 6pm.

Where: The Shootout hits the northeast corner of the town square nightly. Get a front row seat early!

Fees: Best of all the entire shootout and other events are completely free.

Details: Jackson was historically a frontier town, known throughout history for its wild shootouts, rowdy cowboys and party like atmosphere. It was not long before a shootout would occur and the whole town would go to the town square to watch one man claim victory over a dead or dying man, all in the name of frontier style justice. However, actors have taken over the rolls of disgruntle outlaws and cowboys, though many of them are participants in other events, even being real cowboys themselves. The guns are real, but no real ammunition is fired, and most importantly no one gets hurt.
