Grand Teton Rules & Regulations
To make your trip to Grand Teton National Park a safe and enjoyable one, be sure to adhere to the various Park rules and regulations.
Driving
- Always wear your seat belt.
- Be aware of and adhere to the posted speed limits.
- Wildlife can be on the road or crossing the road at any time – keep a watchful eye out.
Wildlife Viewing
- Stay at least 300 feet from wildlife. If you want a closer look, use binoculars.
- It is illegal to feed any and all wildlife, including squirrels and birds.
- Never get between an adult and its baby.
- Do not chase or otherwise harass wildlife.
- Be especially wary of bears. Learn about bear behavior and habitats before entering the Park.
Hiking
- Stay on established trails.
- Horses have the ride of way on all trails.
- Stay on established trails.
Biking
- Always wear a bicycle helmet.
- Bicycles are only allowed on roadways and not on trails.
- Always ride single file.
- Always obey the rules of the road.
- Communicate with drivers by using hand signals.
Boating
- Life jackets are mandatory and should be worn.
Fire Prevention
- Campfires are allowed only in designated areas.
- Fireworks and other pyrotechnic devices are prohibited at all times in the park.
