In the Grand Tetons, there are numerous opportunities to view the unique wildlife of this most lovely area of Wyoming.
- Elk
In the National Elk Refuge, you can see a large concentration of elk, protected here throughout the year. These magnificent animals can also be spotted in the national parks and forests throughout Jackson Hole. - Bears
These huge beasts roam the forests and valleys of the Grand Teton area, and provide a thrill when spotted by visitors. - Moose
This, the largest of the deer family, can be spotted within the Grand Teton National Park and in Yellowstone. There’s nothing like sighting one of these tall, gangly mammals. - Wolves
You may not see a pack of wolves on your visit, but you will likely hear them howling in the distance. - Bighorn Sheep
Bighorn sheep wander the dry uplands, from the mountains to the semi-deserts. - Bison / Buffalo
Slowly increasing populations of bison can be found in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. - Antelope
Wyoming has more antelope than human population. You can view these marvelous pronghorns throughout the Jackson Hole region, and in Grand Teton National Park along Antelope Flats Road. - Eagles
Powerful eagles can be seen throughout Jackson Hole and the Grand Tetons, making their nests and tending their young. - Coyote
Spotting coyotes roaming the Grand Teton area is always exciting, watching them in their native habitat of open grasslands. - Swans
The bright plumage of the swan will show metallic colors and invite your photography skills to come into play. - Geography
Jackson Hole Valley is approximately 80 miles long and 15 miles wide with Grand Teton National Park a part of its verdant lands. The Tetons sprung up from violent seismic activity some nine million years ago. - Other Wildlife
There are numerous opportunities to view the abundant wildlife within the Grand Teton region, with mule deer, weasels and beavers being only some of the animals you are sure to see. - Climate
