Glass Blowing Class - a great winter activity in Jackson Hole

Blowing glass is a unique talent that only a handful of artists in the world have mastered. Not being much of an artist, I never thought I'd have the chance to experience this difficult art form first hand. But a few girlfriends of mine organized a class to do just that this winter. In two hours our group of seven women had each successfully made a beautiful glass ball ornament. Laurie Thal, a local and world renowned glass artist, offers these one-of-a-kind winter classes and guided us through the process.

A Great Winter Activity for Non-Skiers

One of the most common questions we receive here at AllJacksonHole.com during the winter months is “What can I do on a winter vacation in Jackson if I'm not a skier?” While there are many non-skiing related activities like snowshoeing in Grand Teton National Park, taking a sleigh ride through the National Elk Refuge, snow tubing at the base of Snow King Mountain, and visiting the local history museum, this Glass Blowing Class was so unique and fun that it may have just topped the list. And the best part about it is that there is no prior experience required.

It's only $25

We had to plan ahead and you will too because Laurie Thal is one busy woman. And now that she has started offering classes, her schedule is filling up quickly. We signed up with a group of seven women, brought a couple bottles of wine, cookies, and $25 each. Followed by dinner at the Q Restaurant, which is literally just down the road, our evening was fun filled.
